Rainbow Roles

Each of the following co-ordination roles is subject to a 200 ILS bonus per month for whoever carries out the role. All staff are welcome to apply for these roles.

Cooking Co-ordinator

The Cooking Co-ordinator is responsible planning and sending out to the gan a weekly cooking schedule that all the classes will follow. There is a 6 week plan already in place, which can continue to be used or be updated and changed in places. The cooking co-ordinator is responsible for ensuring the right ingedence and produce are available each day for cooking, and for maintaining the organisation of the mitbachon. The cooking co-ordinator will:

  • Send out the weekly cooking plan by 8pm on a Saturday evening, containing the required ingedence and preparation instructions
  • Ensure  that the plan has a wide variety of types of cooking, including cold, hot, sweet, savoury and cooking activities requiring the development of a range of different skills; counting, measuring, mixing, stirring, rolling…
  • Set up the mitbachon every morning with a box for each class containing everything they need for their cooking activity
  • Maintain stock of cooking resources, by ordering in advance foods and supplies that are needed, via the office
  • Make changes to the cooking activity on a daily basis if ingredence are missing or not available, and update the staff about this
  • Keep the mitbachon tidy, ordered, organised and well labelled

Late Club Co-ordinator

The Late Club Co-ordinator is responsible for managing the group of children who stay late between 4:30 and 5:30, and for planning activities and directing any staff working with the children during this time, as well as communicating with the parents of the late club children. The Late Club Co-ordinator is also responsible for running the ‘list’ of late club children and confirming is extra children can be added, given the staffing.

The Late Club co-ordinator will:

  • Be in the late club from 4:25, and register all the late club children, who are pre-booked and any children who have not been collected
  • Write in the ‘Extras’ Whatsapp group any children who had an unauthorised ‘late’ pick up along with the number of minutes the parent was late
  • Ensure that a healthy and fulfilling snack is served (not just fruit, but left over food from lunch etc)
  • Ensure that there is a well set-up place space, which is stimulating for the age and developmental range of the children at late club
  • Ensure that there is at least ONE planned adult led activity each day in late club
  • Co-ordinate and direct the staff on duty in late club, maintaining a 1:5 ratio, and releasing other staff out of late club, if its over-staffed
  • Answering the phone to late club parents, and communicating with them at pick up
  • Ensuring that children’s belongings go home with them
  • Ensuring that children have nappy changed at least once during late club, and go home clean
  • Ensuring that everything used during late club is replaced and put back in a tidy and organised way
  • Post a daily list of the late club children on the Yavne group in the mornings, and take note of any additional children added in

End of Day Co-ordinator 

The End of the Day Co-ordinate is responsible for managing the staff who work between 4:30 and 5:30 in the building. He or she is responsible for ensuring that all jobs are done to close down the building, and all staff working are engaged, busy and completing their allocated tasks. The Co-ordinator is responsible for checking that each area, including the ‘close down’ of classrooms, gardens and common spaces is completed properly, and note down any problems or issues that may need to be worked on by staff the following day

The End of Day Co-ordinator will:

  • Allocate daily jobs to all staff who work between 4:30 and 5:30, and manage and prioritise tasks to ensure everything gets done
  • Supervise the work and quality of tasks completed by the staff between 4:30 and 5:30, ensuring everyone is working with energy and effort in line with organisational expectations
  • Report any issues to the nursery manager
  • Follow the End of Day Closing list to ensure that all jobs are completed, and where extra time is available; staff are allocated meaningful and useful tasks to benefit the building and garden
  • Update Trello Building list with things that need to be fixed or carried out around the premises.
