Late Club is located on the 3rd floor in Toddlers; co-ordinated by Sara.
Staff from the other groups, should bring children to late club at 4:35 with the information from the day which is recorded in the note-book and conduct a formal ‘handover’ so that Sara has the correct information to feedback to parents.
The Late club is staffed with a 1:5 ratio. This means that Sara will be on her own with up to 5 children. If there are more than 5 children (up to 10) another staff member needs to be on duty with her, until the ratio drops to 1:5. The additional staff member can be from ANY group in the building, and should come from whichever group has the MOST staff on duty/staying late that day. Sara will co-ordinate this.
Any staff counted in the ratio with the children should divert their full efforts to being with the children and NOT clearing up or tidying the space.
The late club will be in ONE of the spaces in the Toddlers area, and will be fully set up as a play space, with exciting and age appropriate activities planned until all children have left, at which time Sara has an additional 15 minutes to clear up. Children will have a snack, play and undertake planned activities, and also use the outside space.
All other staff in the building are required to work until the END of the shift in their room or space; clearing up the rooms, organising the toys and resources and getting ready for the following day. Should anyone feel that they have 100% finished everything, and there is NOTHING else to do, clean or organise, they can come up and join late club until their shift finishes, however – this would be unusual.
There is a ‘Late Club’ whatsapp group, that each morning Sara will post the list of names of the children staying. This way, if Neta, or any other staff want to add a child, they can go ahead and just add up to 10 children, without asking, just by posting. By lunchtime each day, Sara will post on the main group who the 2nd person will be.
