Home Time @ Kindergarten

Blue benches and all shoes boxes should be on the decking. The Bimbas should NOT be out at home time, and should all be put away. The lost property boxes should also be out.

Parents are greeted at the door and asked “Who are you picking up?” The door person, then sends and SMS to the Kindergarten group of the child’s name.

The parents are requested to pick up their child’s bag from the peg, then go to the deck and wait for their child. They are not permitted to wait in the corridor area or the stair well. If parents arrive to the decking before the children, they should locate their child’s shoes in the box.

In each room, there should be TWO staff (upstairs 3); one reading to the children on the floor, and one standing by the classroom door and sending children to the decking to meet their parents.

Please ensure that parents leave promptly as soon as shoes are on, no chatting or hanging out with friends, and no opening snacks – that must all be done once they have left the gan.

At the end of the day, staff are not available to search for LOST things – even if children are crying. There should be a ‘Lost Things’ White board, where the child’s name and the lost item is listed. This board is then given to the staff on late shift, who will search for lost items and place them in lost property or on pegs for collection the following day. If something is critical to the child or parent’s mental wellbeing, then they must wait for the end, and we will then search for the missing item.

Example:

LOST THINGS

Benjamin – Cat

Leon L – Spinner & Olives

Please ensure ‘What we ate today’ is written up on the board.
