English workshops

Our English language workshops support children to develop their spoken and conversational English, support with comprehension and understanding and lay the foundations for reading and writing, and begin to develop reading and writing skills.

For older children attending the workshops, there is a more systematic approach which supports developing early literacy skills in English.

Most children who attend our English workshops already have some understanding and may have even graduated Rainbow Nursery and are already reading! For each English workshop, we have more than one teacher, and divide children according to experience, ability and interest!

Our workshops are 45 minutes long, and take place on Mondays between 4:30 (3-5s) and 5:20 start for older children. If you are unable to make Mondays, and would like us to arrange classes on a different day, just reach out to us, and we will see what we can do! 058-633-9278

Letters and Sounds Programme for Little Explorers

For our youngest learners, we focus on the early stages of the Letters and Sounds Programme. We begin by developing crucial speaking and listening skills through fun activities like listening walks, sound games, and rhyming exercises. This lays a strong foundation for phonics work.As children progress, we gently introduce the sounds that letters make, starting with simple phonemes. Through playful activities, songs, and stories, children learn to recognize these sounds and begin blending them to form simple words. We move at each child’s pace, ensuring a positive and stress-free learning experience. Our goal is to make English exciting and accessible, preparing children for more advanced language skills while nurturing their natural curiosity and love for learning.

Letters and Sounds Programme for English Explorers

For our 5-7 year olds, we dive deeper into the Letters and Sounds Programme, building on their existing language skills. We begin by reinforcing their understanding of phonemes and introducing more complex sounds, including consonant digraphs (like ‘ch’ or ‘sh’) and long vowel sounds (like ‘ee’ or ‘ai’).As children progress, they learn to blend and segment longer words with adjacent consonants. We then introduce new graphemes (different ways of spelling phonemes) and alternative pronunciations for existing ones. Throughout this journey, children are constantly expanding their phonetic awareness and vocabulary. Our experienced teachers adapt the pace and focus to each child’s needs, ensuring they develop strong reading and writing skills. We use a variety of engaging activities, from interactive games to creative writing projects, to make learning enjoyable and effective.By the end of the programme, children become fluent readers and increasingly accurate spellers, well-prepared for more advanced English language learning. Our goal is to nurture confident English speakers who are excited about using the language in various contexts. In both age groups, we move at each child’s individual pace, ensuring a strong foundation in English phonics, reading, and writing. Our ultimate aim is to make learning English an enjoyable and rewarding experience, setting children on a path to language proficiency in a fun and supportive environment.
