Schemas are patterns of repeatable behaviour which can often be noticed in young children’s play. Scheme relates to children’s age and stage of development, and influences their play choices and preferences. At Rainbow we work hard when we observe children to put what we see into a context – and part of this is looking out for Schema that we recognise, and planning the environment to extend and support children’s schema.
